Over 40 Vintners and Top Dallas Chefs Serve Heritage Zinfandels & Gourmet Fare
On their 2009 tasting tour, the Zinfandel Advocates and Producers (ZAP) are bringing some of their finest bottles to Dallas where they will team up with The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas to produce the 2009 Zinfandel Grand Tasting. The event will be held at the Tower Club in Dallas on Thursday, May 14 from 6:30–9:00 p.m. Benefiting The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas, a statewide educational charity, the Zinfandel Grand Tasting is an extraordinary wine and food tasting featuring over 40 American Heritage Zinfandel vintners and a select group of top Dallas/Fort Worth area chefs. ZAP is currently ‘on tour’ with Dallas being one of only three host cities nationwide.
This showcase offers Dallas wine lovers the opportunity to sample an array of zinfandels from various American growing regions. “Attendees will meet winemakers and winery owners who have traveled from California to introduce their Zinfandels…” explains ZAP’s Executive Director, Rebecca Robinson.
Notable Dallas area chefs providing hors d’oeuvres to pair with wines include Chef David Bull of Bolla, Chef Anthony Bombaci of Nana, Chef David Uygur of Lola The Restaurant, Chef Sam Dickey of Zymology Dallas, and private chef Tre Wilcox.
Members of the trade are welcome from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Trade must RSVP in advance by visiting www.zinfandel.org.
The public is invited to a consumer tasting from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Ticket prices start at $45 per person. ZAP and The Wine &Food Foundation of Texas members receive discounted tickets of $40. The Association of Zinfandel Advocates & Producers (ZAP) is a non-profit, educational 501(c)(3) organization. ZAP is dedicated to advancing public knowledge of and appreciation for American Zinfandel and its unique place in our culture and history. Winegrowers, winemakers and wine enthusiasts combine to form the membership. The common focus is the preservation and recognition of Zinfandel as America’s heritage wine.
